Concept & Vision

The Concept: The Yulin General Market is a traditional food market in Chengdu that, despite being deeply tied to the community, has remained static for 20 years and struggled to engage the growing younger demographic.

The Vision: This project aims to reshape the market from a single, outdated functional space into a culturally complex living scenario. It strikes a balance between heritage and innovation by preserving local traditions—such as the unique rhythms of the Chengdu dialect—while introducing a modernized, digital-first shopping experience tailored for today's youth.

Interaction Mechanics

Online + Offline Synergy: The core mechanic bridges the visual, dynamic online world with the static, physical geography of the shop.

Cultural UI Design: The interface design itself acts as a cultural mechanic, featuring a custom font system ("Afronaut Regular" and Chinese Gothic) that scales dynamically according to local dialectal features.

Interactive Navigation: Users navigate the physical space through an Interactive Map built with 3D models, providing stall guidance, event alerts, and direct in-app shopping.

Execution & Integration

General Content: Including daily activities, digital recipes, and real-time navigation components.

Spatial Computing & AR: To execute this offline-to-online transformation, the project heavily utilizes Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance the physical shopping experience.

The AR Food Identifier: Pointing smartphone cameras at raw goods to overlay digital data cards with origin details, safety certifications, and storage tips.

Redefining User Flow: Successfully managing the market's dynamic flow by catering to both elderly residents and young "city-walkers," enhancing operational efficiency and community participation.
