The Concept

The Core Theme: The project is a critical inquiry into the "Dead Internet Theory," exploring how the web has transitioned from a human-centric public square into a "semantic quagmire" dominated by bots and automated entities.

Data Poetics: It translates the invisible, hard statistics of algorithmic control and web traffic into an embodied, visual experience of human alienation.

Visualizing Environmental Decay: Rather than using traditional data charts, the project visualizes the internet's "population shift" as a process of environmental decay across four distinct stages: Gorgeous, Cumbersome, Absurd, and Decline.

The Inescapable Loop: The core interaction intervenes in the user's agency by constructing a deceptive "no-exit" mechanism.

Illusion of Progress: Utilizing the geometric logic of the Penrose stairs, the game features a recurring staircase animation that acts as a deceptive hyperlink—promising progress to the player but only delivering a repetition of the void.

Experiencing "Authenticity Collapse": This mechanic traps the user not with physical walls, but with the logic of engagement-driven systems, forcing them to physically experience a space where human agency is merely an illusion.

The Execution & AI Integration

Hybrid Workflow: The execution relies on a hybrid workflow combining Blender's aesthetics with Unity's programming logic to make the invisible threat of the "Dead Internet" visible.

Aesthetics of "Data Sludge": Informed by the phenomenon of AI-generated "computational creativity" (like the viral "Shrimp Jesus"), the project designs a surreal, glitch-filled landscape where actual meaning dissolves into "data sludge". Visual elements, such as black cables representing algorithmic roots, are used to show the choking of vibrant social interfaces.

Thematic AI Integration: While the game critiques AI, its underlying mechanics are heavily informed by academic research on AI behavior. The entrapment logic is theoretically grounded in studies showing that AI agents can be up to six times more persuasive than humans, rendering human subjectivity "operationally irrelevant" within the network.
